Cambodia is a destination that has become quite popular with backpackers and budget travelers. The country of Southeast Asia is famous for its temples, white sand beaches, friendly locals, stunning mountains and valleys, intact forests and delicious street food.
A few years ago, I ventured into the temples of Angkor Wat, Phnom Penh, Kampot and Kep and immediately fell in love with the country. Watching the sun rise over the temples of Angkor – the largest religious monument in the world – is a bucket list experience in itself.
And don't forget about the pottery classes, quad bike tours, ziplining and massages you can try in Siem Reap, the city closest to Angkor Wat. I would recommend taking a cooking class while you are there and you definitely do not want to miss the Siem Reap night market!
If you're looking for backpacks in the country or just spending your days exploring cities, the best time to do so is between November and May, when you won't have to worry about thunderstorms ruining your plans. Just remember that this is the most popular time to visit, so prices tend to go up and large attractions will have large crowds.
