Deepak Punia secured an Olympic position on Saturday when he entered the semifinals of the World Wrestling Championships.

Deepak defeated Colombia's Carlos Izquierdo 7-6 in the 86kg weight class to advance to the semifinals of the tournament.

With Deepak's victory, India now have four Olympic quota championships.

On Friday, 22-year-old debutant Ravi Kumar won a bronze medal at the World Wrestling Championships.

Punia had secured a place for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics on Thursday after a spectacular 8-1 win over North Korea's Jong Son in the tournament.

On Wednesday, Vinesh Phogat became the first Indian wrestler to qualify for the Olympics and would compete in the 53kg category. He bagged gold medals at the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games.

In the 2018 Asian Games, he had won a gold medal in the 50kg category.
