Highlights from TBA Escapes Jordan Ancient Wonders Tour • The Blond Abroad

The TBA Escapes Jordan Update

Over the years, I have received so many requests for local tips, travel tips, and itineraries for my favorite destinations around the world. So long ago, I was inspired to invite you to come on trips I planned!

TBA Escapes was created to bring an epic travel experience, to some of the biggest bucket list destinations on Earth, to like-minded female travelers from around the world.

Since the launch of the TBA Escape all-female tours in South Africa in 2017, we have embarked on new trips around the world – the "Journey of Ancient Wonders" in Jordan, a "Luxury Yacht Eco Tour" in the Galapagos and an adventure in Morocco " .

While in Jordan, the focus was on capturing the beauty of the country and teaching women more about photography!

The itinerary was an epic adventure, at least. We have ventured through the city of Amman (the first place in the Middle East I ever visited in 2012!), Climbed the Wadi Mujib River, got a "float" in the Dead Sea, got to know the beauty of the ancient city of Petra Rose, went diving in the Red Sea and the historical Roman ruins at Jerash.

Ready to see highlights from the TBA Escapes "Ancient Wonders Tour" in Jordan? Let's look!

Tour photo, you say?

One of the highlights of this tour was our collaboration with FUJIFILM USA!

This collaboration was a huge touch for the ladies and something that made me so excited about these tours. Because photo tours can be quite expensive when you get new tools, we've got the unique opportunity for every participant to lend their favorite Fujifilm X series camera and lenses at no extra cost!

And the food! I mention in my guide the top ten things to do in Amman that cooking lessons are a must – that's exactly what we did. We made Arabic and Jordanian staples like humus and fat and learned from a local woman who founded the Beit Sitti Cooking School (meaning "my grandmother's house"). How perfect!

Wadi Mujib

Canyoning at Wadi Mujib

Wadi Mujib is another adventure attraction traveling to Jordan! The Wadi Mujib Biosphere Reserve houses a 70km / 44 mile long sandstone canyon cut by the Mujib River. It's one of the top must-see in Jordan and you can "gorge" or hike a part of it!

We chose an adventure course upstream of the river, rocks and waterfalls with the help of each other and lots of ropes (of course of course).

It was a serious adrenaline rush!

The Dead Sea resort

The Dead Sea

The Dead Sea is a huge bucket list item when you visit Jordan! It is the saltest sea on the planet AND the lowest point on Earth.

After a bit of a "float" in the Dead Sea, we covered ourselves in the Dead Sea mud (which is great for your skin!) And jumped in for a last sunset. We were lucky to experience it both a sunset and a float of sunrise.

It's such a surreal feeling!

Group excursion to Wadi Rum

Wadi Rum + Bubble awnings

Mars, Wadi Rum was the perfect location for a 4 × 4 adventure – hello, sandy safari! The dramatic sandstone mountains and caves that were once created on a life camera we couldn't resist.

Wadi Rum is one of the most beautiful deserts I've seen in all my travels – and the ground is not like anywhere else on Earth!

Other than that, we have to go off-the-grid for the night and stay in some of the coolest "bubble scenes," EVER! Glamping and serious star views? Yes please!

Another benefit of being in a city without light pollution from the city? We got to work in the night photography with the girls and learned how to capture stars on Fujifilm cameras!

The City of Rhodes

One of the highlights of the trip was seeing the ancient city of Petra – and it's a thrilling experience!

We have the experience of "Petra at night" where it is crawled by local Bedouins, playing beautiful music with traditional rababas.

And, we walked to Petra for a whole day of exploration. We walked over 20,000 steps and spent about 6-7 hours inside the complex. It's MASSIVE!

Petra is called Rose City and it is easy to see why it is one of the 7 New Wonders of the World. The city can be dated to around 300 BC. but it was not rediscovered until 1812. It is truly a wonderful look back at ancient history.

We explored fascinating sandstone sculptures in icons such as the Royal Treasury, the Amphitheater and the Monastery.

Jerash

Jerash Roman ruins

Jerash is known for having the best preserved Roman city outside of Rome! Blossomed from the Bronze Age, Jerash has a dynamic history.

The ruins were really amazing and in a great state, so we wandered the ruins for a few hours and learned a lot fun facts from a local guide.

"I had high hopes for my trip to Jordan with the TBA Escapes, and I can honestly say that the experience far exceeded my expectations. Every last detail, from arrival to departure, was carefully laid out. I saw things I only dreamed about, like the Dead Sea, Petra and Wadi Rum, and I made friends with incredible women. Our guides, Kiersten herself, Lauren and Reine, were absolutely wonderful and made the trip so much better. Jordan was a perfect introduction on a trip to the Middle East and I look forward to booking another one tour with TBA Escapes in the future! "

"I've never been on a group tour before (I usually enjoy solo travel!), So it was a little awkward to join a team. However, this experience was incredible. I'm so happy to go, Kiersten and the rest of the team. they constantly went out of their way to make sure everyone was comfortable and cared for. I was also hesitant because they advertised as a "photography" tour, that my expectations were unrealistic and too high. (I wanted to find more comfortable using my camera) Fortunately, that wasn't the case Kiersten was a great teacher and I learned SO much. I walked away from the tour with camera knowledge, Lightroom knowledge and new experiences that I probably would not have experienced alone. I am so grateful for the TBA Escapes and the confidence it gave me. "
