The Indian women's hockey team left for Hiroshima in Saturday's short hours to join the finals of the women's FIH series that are part of the Olympic Games.
"We are going to this tournament with great confidence from our recent tours in Spain, Malaysia and the Republic of Korea. Our performance is increasing last year and the fact that many of us have been playing together for several years gives us an edge, said Captain Rani on the eve of their departure.
It was a historic moment for the Indian women's team when it was licensed for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

"It was the first time that India had ever qualified for the Olympic Games in Women's Hockey. We created a story, but we definitely do not want it to be a one-time qualifier, our team is capable of repeating it and we will aim to end the top in this tournament, "said Rani.
India is grouped with Poland, Uruguay and Fiji in Pool A while the 18th Asian Champions of Japan, Chile, Russia and Mexico are grouped into Pool B.
India is launching the campaign against Uruguay on June 15, 2019. India will need to complete the two positions by making the final to be able to participate in the Olympic event within the year.
