STL, VMware to work on 5G access solutions

PUNE: Global data network company STL will work with business software firm VMware to develop virtual network functionality for 5G access solutions for converged cable-wireless technology, it said Thursday.

Once available, these solutions will help you easily install complex 5G rollouts for telecommunications companies and large businesses.

STL will leverage VMware vCloud NFV to deploy, manage, and maintain the environment for network microenterprises, such as switching, firewall etc. The solution will enable STL to provide a commercial and stable release to telcos and large corporate customers that are looking for commercial growth in the next few quarters. This would help customers reduce the cap and move to a subscription model, as hardware and software modules can be added over time to a native cloud application.

"Combined bidding will bring a full stack of solutions for a converging wireless-wireless network for industry and further increase our global target market," said Badri Gomatam, CTO Group, STL.

"VMware vCloud NFV provides computing, storage, networking, management and functionality capabilities that, together with the development capabilities offered by STL in our partnership, will help provide a complete solution to our communications service providers," said Gabriele Di Piazza, vice president of solutions and marketing, Telco and Edge Cloud, VMware.

"With the STL programmable suite of networked wireless applications running over VMware Telco Cloud, we are in a position to support our customers for their future network requirements," Di Piazza added.
