If you have a reliable internet connection, smart lights are a cheap way to make your home rich-type penthouse level cool. You can adjust the brightness of your lights and most devices allow you to adjust the mood by choosing from more than 16 million colors. In recent months, we've tried some sweet lighting options that do not require an external hub and most work with existing smart assistant in your home. Here are my favorites.
This is my favorite. The biggest feature: you do not need a separate hub to control your smart lights. They are connected via Wi-Fi and have glue on the back so you can stick the lights on your walls or under the sills and cupboards. LEDs create up to 16 million colors and are programmable so you can create custom lighting patterns through your smartphone application. You can also set up a lighting program and make changes with your voice through Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The boot kit has two 6.5-foot LED strips. There are eight programmable color zones in each strip and 700 lumens per lane. The films have a life span of 22 years.
The Sylvania LED LED is enabled in the Apple HomeKit, which means you can change colors and settings with Siri or through the application. It connects via Bluetooth and comes with three strips of 2 feet with adhesive tape on the back. I would recommend buying extra double sided tape only if you move the LED around; every time you remove them, they lose part of their wand. The lights are energy efficient, adjustable white color and a range of 16 million colors. The only feature that Sylvania would like to include – what LIFX does is the ability of lights to rotate automatically through the colors. With these lights, you can only adjust the brightness and change colors.
This next choice – a single LED strip of 6.6 ft and 1,800 lumens – is the newest on the market. Like others, they can be cut to some places to create a smaller segment. Once you cut it, you can not reconnect the two tracks. Eve LEDs can be expanded with additional bands and reach 32.8 feet. LEDs produce a full range of white and color and are compatible with Apple's HomeKit – so Siri-controlled vocals. This setting does not require an additional node.
If you're looking for a bigger choice of LED film, the Minger's WiFi-connected Minger LED is 16.4 feet long, waterproof and can be controlled via Govee on your smartphone or Amazon Alexa. The company does not recommend connecting multiple lanes.
